GBMA Architecture

GBMA Architecture LLC has been working for the last several years in Arizona to develop projects that better represent and respond to our southwestern environment and our unique climatic conditions.

Our firm seeks to integrate unique design precepts that complement the best practices in energy conservation and “green” building technology. Additionally, we place an emphasis on creating designs that set our projects apart from others and provide the end user with the programming, design, spatial quality and construction value that produce a successful project for our clients.

GBMA Architecture LLC, designed the Boyce Residence located in the Arizona Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona, and in collaboration with the owners, Russ and Vicky Boyce, built the Boyce residence for the owners.

The Boyce residence is a 3800 square foot single family home. The Boyce residence has been energy-modeled and is three (3) times more energy efficient than the typical Phoenix home and includes “green” design and construction precepts, such as proper solar orientation, a radiant roof barrier, recycled cotton insulation in ceilings and walls, concrete floors and bathroom counters, energy efficient windows and doors, and other materials that complement this home’s design and energy conservation performance.

The design vocabulary for this residence references the desert southwest and the volumetric interior spaces provide the owners with spaces that are both living spaces and extensions of their Scottsdale art gallery. The home’s interior allows for the dynamic display and illumination of wall hung artwork and freestanding sculpture. The home has been designed by GBMA Architecture LLC to allow for easy access to the exterior sculpture garden, fountains and covered patios. Limited rainwater harvesting has also been accommodated and is used for landscape irrigation.

The Boyce Residence home has been featured in the Desert Living television program, the Desert Living Fall 2006 issue and the Phoenix Arizona Republic “Cool Homes” newspaper section.
